Received an Unsolicited Courier Package Claiming You'd Won a Prize? Beware of Scams. Don't Scan the QR Code!
2025-11-25

Recently, the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre (ADCC) received a number of enquiries from the public who said that they had received unsolicited courier packages delivered by SF Express. Such package contains a “Taobao lucky draw ticket” with a QR code and the phrase “Taobao is preparing for December 12” in Chinese, as well as a free face masque. The ADCC specially reminds the public not to scan that QR code hastily, definitely not to provide banking or credit card information, and to be vigilant against common scams such as click farming! If in doubt, please call the “Anti-Scam Helpline 18222” for enquiries immediately.
Our Advice
Do not rashly scan the QR codes on lucky draw tickets;
Do not hastily disclose personal data, including identity card numbers and bank account information;
Do not blindly trust recruitment advertisements hiring “click farmers”, “order takers”, “likers”, etc., because it is highly likely that such advertisements are associated with scams;
Even if strangers who send you messages are able to tell your personal information, it does not necessarily mean that they are genuine law enforcers. Scammers can obtain the personal information of the public by unlawful means;
Remind your relatives and friends to stay vigilant against deception;
If you suspect that you have fallen prey to a scam, you should call the “Anti-Scam Helpline 18222” for enquiries.
