Beware of Scammers Impersonating ADCC Officers
2024-11-01

Defrauding Tricks

Recently, scammers impersonating officers of the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre (ADCC) of the Hong Kong Police Force sent WhatsApp messages with phone number +852 7020 7096 to members of the public, falsely claiming that they were involved in illegal activities such as money laundering, and requesting them to provide their bank account transaction records, personal and bank account information so as to assist in investigation.

Our Advice

  • ADCC officers will only inform victims of them being scammed. They will not ask for victims’ online banking passwords or ask victims to make transfers to designated bank accounts;

  • ADCC officers will only ask victims to meet in police stations;

  • Even if strangers who send you messages are able to tell your personal information, it does not necessarily mean that they are genuine law enforcement officers. Scammers can obtain the personal information of the public by unlawful means;

  • If anyone claiming to be an ADCC officer visits your home and you doubt their identity, please call the “Anti-Scam Helpline 18222” for enquiries.
