Beware of Phone Scammers Impersonating Hospital Staff
2023-11-23

Defrauding Tricks

Recently, members of the public have received calls purportedly made from staff of Kwong Wah Hospital (KWH) and CUHK Medical Centre (CUHKMC). The calls were in the form of pre-recorded messages requesting the recipients to provide personal information in order to collect medical documents.

Generally, hospital staff will contact patients by phone in person and provide relevant information to verify the identity of both parties. Members of the public are advised to stay alert and not to disclose personal information during unidentified phone calls.

KWH and CUHKMC have issued press releases for clarification.

Members of the public can make enquiries with the relevant hospitals:

KWH’s website and its main phone number (2332 2311)

CUHKMC’s website and its main phone number (3946 6888)
