Scammers Impersonating ADCC Open Fraudulent Account on Facebook

Recently, there are scammers opening an account named “Anti-Deception Coordination and Service Centre” on Facebook with the logo of ADCC. They published fraudulent advertising messages and claimed that consultation service on anti-scam right protection could be offered for free, attempting to confuse members of the public and obtain their personal information, bank account, password, etc.

Our Advice

• ADCC will not forward phone calls to any law firms when providing the public with consultation on deception cases through Anti-Scam Helpline;

• Stay alert if you receive phone calls or messages purporting to be made or sent by law firm staff. You should verify their identities and search the law firm’s information such as phone number and address on the website of the Law Society of Hong Kong;

• Do not believe unknown callers or disclose your personal information, bank account number and password to them;

• Remind your relatives and friends to stay alert against deception;

• If in doubt, please call the “Anti-Scam Helpline 18222” for enquiries.
