Beware of Message on Account Verification Purportedly from HKTVmall

Recently, the Police have received public enquiries about a fraudulent SMS message from “Hktvmall” purporting to be HKTVmall, a local shopping platform, asking the recipients to verify their accounts via an unidentified link and adding that the accounts would be suspended if not handled timely. By clicking on the link, the recipients are directed to a suspicious website where they are asked to input such information as their names, ID numbers and credit card numbers.
Our Advice
HKTVmall has clarified that it will not request customers to click on any links related to account verification or security via SMS messages or social media platform (HKTVmall website notice);
Do not connect to any suspicious websites via hyperlinks embedded in SMS messages;
Do not input personal information, credit card details or security codes to unknown websites;
Remind your relatives and friends to stay vigilant against deception;
