Beware of Phone Scammers Impersonating Staff of Department of Health
2022-03-16

Defrauding Tricks

Recently, the Police have received public enquires about pre-recorded voice calls purportedly made from the Centre for Health Protection (CHP). The callers alleged that the recipients should be notified of some important announcements on COVID-19 pandemic and asked them to contact the CHP by pressing 3. After the recipients pressed the button, the calls were forwarded to a scammer impersonating a CHP staff who asked the recipients for their personal information, including their bank account information and passwords.
