Beware of Fraudulent Email
2018-03-01

It has recently come to the Police’s attention that members of the public receive fraudulent emails purportedly issued by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). Such emails seek to obtain the recipients’ personal particulars. Please stay alert.
Modus Operandi
Fraudsters make use of fraudulent emails purportedly issued by IRD from the email account “egis_notification@ogcio.gov.hk” to invite recipients to apply for tax refund. The emails provide a hyperlink to an unknown website which seeks to obtain the recipients’ personal particulars. The department has made it clear that it has no connection with the fraudulent emails.
