Scammers pretend to be Anti-Scam officers
So far, fraudsters have impersonated staff of the Immigration Department, Mainland Public Security Bureau, courier and telecommunications companies. Now, fraudsters go as far as to impersonate officers of the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre (ADCC). How could you still trust them?
Latest Modus Operandi
Intelligence revealed that fraudsters had been using numerous phone numbers, which start with the country code +852, to attempt to defraud the public by impersonating the Hong Kong Police Force (including the ADCC) since 28 May. Callers used various pretexts to defraud the victims such as purporting that some important documents of the victims had been in police custody, or that the victims had been wanted by the Police.
Remember
  • The Hong Kong Police Force would not make pre-recorded voice calls to the public.
