Fraudsters offer to sell surgical masks on online social / shopping platforms. Buyers foot the bill but fail to get any ordered items afterwards.
Our Advice
Stay alert and take heed of the followings prior to online transactions:
- Ascertain the credibility of other parties and verify their identity before conducting any transactions.
- Take note of the coverage of legal protection and the risks involved in different jurisdictions if transactions are conducted with parties overseas.
- Buyers and sellers can check the transaction history, credibility ratings and transaction comments of the other parties before proceeding with a transaction.
- Do not disclose any personal particulars before confirming the identity of other parties.
- Abort the transaction if there is any doubt about the identity of the parties involved.
