Beware of Electronic Consumption Vouchers related Scams (With Designated Telephone Numbers)

To protect the personal data of registrants and prevent fraudulent acts, the government and its contractors will only send SMS notifications to registrants via the designated telephone numbers on matters relating to consumption vouchers. The SMS messages will not provide any website links or ask for registrants’ personal and bank information. Also, the Scheme Secretariat and the contractors it engages will only contact registrants via the designated telephone numbers. Registrants will absolutely not be asked to provide their personal information such as Stored Value Facility (SVF) account numbers and HKID card numbers over the phone.

Our Advice
  • The OFCA stipulates that telephone operators are required to insert a “+” sign in the calling number display of mobile phones as a prefix for all incoming calls originating from outside Hong Kong.
  • You should pay extra attention to calls with the prefix “+852”, anonymous calls or calls with unfamiliar numbers which are likely to be scam calls.
  • Do not disclose personal information to callers, including HKID card numbers, SVF account numbers, bank account numbers and PIN codes.
  • SMS messages sent from the Scheme will not provide any website links. If you receive suspicious SMS messages of such, do not click on the links;
  • If you have doubts about the authenticity of the calls and need further confirmation, you may call the Scheme hotline at 185000.
  • If you suspect a scam, please call the “Anti-Scam Helpline 18222” for enquiries.
